A manuscript group comprised largely of genealogical material relating to the ancestry of Jonas H. Brooks, a descendant of Captain Thomas Brooks (Watertown, Mass., 1630). Includes correspondence, copies of original records, and information on the Greenwood, Newton, Patten, Temple, and Whiting families. Also included, is correspondence from family members, particularly his brother Charles G. Brooks; poetry, prose, speeches, and military papers of Edward Brooks, who was a surgeon in the United States Army during the Civil War.
